How is the Regenerative Cotton Standard® implemented into the supply chain?

Transparency and traceability are essential to the journey and impact of regenerative practices, from the fields to the finished product. To ensure that regenerative cotton can be traced from its origin to the finished product, RCS operates under a strict chain of custody (CoC) system. This system defines how cotton and cotton-containing materials and products move through the supply chain while maintaining full transparency, integrity, and independent verification at every step.

Traceable cotton with the HIP Chain of Custody model

HIP Explained The Hard Identity Preserved (HIP) model ensures full transparency and traceability, from cotton field to finished product. Under HIP, RCS-verified cotton and RCS-claimed materials (e.g. yarns, fabrics, and garments) are kept segregated from non-RCS materials at every stage of production, storage, and transportation. During all processing steps no mixing or substitution with non-RCS cotton is allowed. Mixing with other non-cotton fibres is permitted, but the integrity of RCS cotton must be maintained throughout the supply chain.
